Makeover, Part II

After getting the sign stripped (no fun!) and prepped, I apply a blockout primmer, and three coats of enamel.

Like my apron? Yeah, I'm a real fashion-plate.

Next, I stripe the background with an ivory/white mix.

Now, the real fun can begin...

Makeover; Part 1

After a local restaurant was sold at auction, I stopped by to introduce myself to the new owner, who was opening a farm market.

After several sketches and meetings, we settled on a look that would retain the panel that I had created for the original business.
The barn shape echoes the architecture of the building.

So, with the sign back at the shop, the removal of the
old graphics began.
In an attempt to save the original carvings, I first tried
the delicate removal technique.
It was very difficult and time consuming, as the original
carved graphics were never intended to be removable...

After several hours of frustrating work, the Time Is Money factor kicks in, and
results in a scorched-earth policy for most of the old carvings.
Oh, well...
